Painted horn comb by Georges Pierre, signed GIP. He was Elizabeth Bonte's rival until they merged workshops until 1936. The horn came from the Jura Mountains near Oyonnax. It was cut into sections, heated with steam and rolled out. A design was traced and cut out with a handsaw. Then, hydrogen peroxide and dyes were applied to add other colors and stains. The horn was then polished and, finally, details such as veins on an insect’s wings were drawn in with ink.
