John Charles was known as the "Gentle Giant" or "Il Gigante Buono" in Italy where he played for the great Juventus team of the 1950's. Some say he was Leeds United's greatest ever player - those old enough to have seen him - & others say he was the best Welsh player. Whatever is said he had an impressive athletic presence on a Football field but was a perfect gentleman playing hard but fair.
