1944 - 1945. People in line at a soup kitchen at the Stenen Hoofd. During the Honger Winter in Amsterdam there’s was no fuel, no petrol, no electricity. One loaf of bread and a kilo of potatoes a week per person. The farmers, still having food for sale, don’t accept money. They want jewelry, gold, silver for their potatoes. More than 20,000 people lost their lives in the western part of the Netherlands during the winter of 1944-1945. #amsterdam #worldwar2 #hongerwinter
