Hawker Hurricane Mk 1a of 501 Squadron at RAF Tangmere in early 1940: Flt Sgt 'Ginger' Lacey, highest scoring pilot in the Battle of Britain, flew with this unit. The aircraft is still fitted with a fixed pitch two blade propeller, replaced by a variable pitch three blader by the time of the battle.
