Iron Maiden, 1983

Iron Maiden, 1983 there's something regal about this metal band- heavy metal royalty

I've been a fan of The Who for so long that it was expected that I'd receive a phone call from one of my best friends asking me if I'd heard that Keith Moon had just died. I'd just seen it on the news, and he told me that he cried when he heard the news. They were rock and roll heroes to us. They were one of those bands where you didn't have a favorite member--you loved them all the same for their unique qualities and strengths they brought to the band.

The Who. The quintessential rock band. Saw them at Carter-Finley stadium in Raleigh back in Would have loved to have seen them at their prime and with Keith Moon, but at least John Entwistle was still with them and they were spectacular.

Earlier this year, Father John Misty/Josh Tillman dropped what—to many Fleet Foxes fans—felt like a bomb: he was leaving the band. On his Tumblr, he bid adieu to his high profile drumming gig, adding a pithy, “Back into the gaping maw of obscurity I go.”

Under the Radar caught up with ex-Fleet Foxes drummer Josh Tillman (aka Father John Misty) at his Laurel Canyon home to get the scoop on the newest chapter in his musical career.
